“The Frassati”
The one that started it all. In anticipation of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati's feast day (July 4th) we wanted to make this rosary available before the rest of our handmade collection is released!

Perhaps the “favorite child” of our shop, this Rosary is inspired by the young Italian man on his way to becoming a Saint– Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati. Born in Turin, Italy in the year 1901, Frassati was dubbed by Saint Pope John Paul II “A man of the beatitudes.” Truly this young man lived out the beatitudes in his daily life. His zeal for the faith and for the beautiful things in creation (such as the mountains of Italy) was a trademark of his life. He dedicated much of his spare time to humbly serving the sick and the needy. At the young age of 24, Pier Giorgio contracted Polio while caring for those sick in the hospital and died shortly after. His funeral was attended by thousands of the people he quietly served and befriended. Our rosary shop is named for a phrase Pier Giorgio scribbled onto a photograph taken of him while mountaineering--”Verso l’alto” which translates to “To the heights.” Roberto Falciola, the vice-postulator for Frassati’s canonization said, “as a short phrase, it is the synthesis of his (Frassati’s) mode of living: always to search for that which is higher, to set off beyond ourselves, towards the highest of what it means to be man”
